Engg students seek power, water

Keonjhar: Upset over problems in water and electricity problems, students of Government Engineering College, holding placards and empty buckets, staged protests in front of the collectorate in Keonjhar Friday. Notably, they had agitated over the issue on their college premises two days ago.

But, no steps are being taken to sort the problems out, fumed agitating students.

The students of the government engineering college displayed their multiple problems on placards and took out a rally in the town.

“We have staged protests in the past. The college authorities, the district administration and the university authorities were apprised of problems, but nothing was done to resolve these problems,” the agitating students fumed.

The college is away from the town and near a hill while there is no road to the collage and no lighting facility along the route.

“Owing to frequent power cuts, we have to face in blackout while out studies were affected for hours. Internet and Wi-Fi system are not working. Sanitation and drinking water have also problems on the college and hostel premises. The college also lacks parking and canteen facilities,” they pointed out.
