London: England head coach Chris Silverwood said on Monday that he will be putting ‘no pressure’ on Ben Stokes to play in the upcoming T20 World Cup. However, Silverwood said he will ‘certainly be revisiting’ the topic soon.

England all-rounder Stokes has taken an indefinite break from all cricket to prioritise his mental well-being. He is also resting his left index finger which had broken during the IPL.

Stokes last played a competitive cricket match for the Northern Superchargers in ‘The Hundred’ competition in July. The T20 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates and Oman begins 17th October.

The absence of Ben Stokes is being felt by the England team in the ongoing Test series against India. Stokes has the ability with both bat and ball to change the complexion. He can bat at No.5 or No.6. In the four Tests so far played against India, the English middle-order has looked very fragile indeed. The presence of Stokes would have certainly been a boost to the side.
