London: India were 346 for seven at lunch on the second day of the second Test against England here Thursday. India added 70 more runs for the loss of four wickets after resuming at the overnight score of 276 for three. The first to depart on the day was Ajinkya Rahane who was dismissed by Jimmy Anderson without adding to his overnight score of one. It looks like both Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara may not find a place in the final XI for the third Test unless they come up with some good batting performances in the second innings.
Next to depart was centurion KL Rahul (129) who was caught at shot extra-cover by Dom Sibley off the bowling of Ollie Robinson.
Rishabh Pant (37, 92b, 5×4) and Ravindra Jadeja (31 batting) steadied the ship with a 49-run partnership for the sixth wicket. However, Pant flirted outside the off stump to be caught behind by Jos Buttler off Mark Wood. Mohammed Shami’s (0 off 2 balls) brief stay at the wicket was cut short by Moeen Ali.
Overall the session belonged to England as they picked up four Indian wickets for the addition of 70 runs.
Brief scores: India 1st innings: 376 for 7 (KL Rahul 129, Rishabh Pant 37, Ravindra Jadeja 31 batting, James Anderson 3/58).
