Bhubaneswar: Launching the ‘Jana Sampark Padayatra’, a people connect programme, on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti Wednesday, BJD president and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik urged the party leaders to ensure that good work of his government reaches the people.
Flagging off the Padayatra programme at Kargil Basti here, Naveen said, “Our padyatra is an opportunity to meet the people. During this period you should focus on two things. First, enquire about the problems faced by the people and second ensure the good work done by the government reaches the people.”
The BJD president said that he was indebted to the people of Odisha and his party workers for blessing him to serve the state once again.
Naveen announced that his party will soon start a social service wing. “The social service wing will focus on plantation and environment, blood donation and health assistance. Our objective would be to make Odisha clean and green and people of Odisha healthy,” he said.
“Among all activities of our party, social service is my favourite. I want the young workers of our party to join the movement and make it a powerful one,” said the Chief Minister.
He reminded his party workers that ‘Jeevan Bindu’ programme which was started a few years ago has turned out to be a successful blood donation movement in the country. He pointed out that till date three lakh units of blood have been collected while 10 lakh people have joined the movement. The padayatra programme will continue till October 11.
