Esplanade mall asked to close gates on industrial estate road 

Bhubaneswar: A meeting between officials of the Esplanade One mall and owners of industrial units at the Rasulgarh Industrial Estate Tuesday agreed on the need to widen the road from the national highway to the Konark TV unit and closing the mall’s gates in front of the Khurda District Industry Centre (DIC).

The meeting was held at the conference hall of the DIC. The Puri District Small Scale Industries Association had called the meeting which was presided over by the General Manager of DIC.

The meeting was convened to discuss about various problems the industrial units in the estate have been encountering due to traffic snarls caused by visitors to the mall.

Apart from officials of the mall and the association, Traffic ACP Anup Kanungo, ACP of Zone-V Kishore Chandra Mund, the Inspector in-charge of Sahid Nagar police station, Joint Manager of IDCO, Bhubaneswar division, President of the Odisha Small Scale Industry Association, representatives of the Odisha Young Entrepreneurs Association and other stakeholders took part in the meeting.

It was decided, however, that the other two gates on the industrial estate road will be used by the mall till alternative gates are opened at its rear.

Traffic constables along with security officials of the mall will also be deployed at the intersection of the road and the national highway to ensure smooth vehicular movement.

The mall was also asked to not allow parking outside the gates on the industrial estate road. The next meeting in which the engineers and the architects of the mall and BDA will present the traffic plan is scheduled to be held at the office of traffic ACP Thursday.
