Bhubaneswar: The first phase of evaluation of answer-sheets for the annual Plus II exams began in the state Monday. The second phase evaluation will begin from April 23 and continue till May 2. As per reports, as many as 9,000 teachers will evaluate the answer-sheets and all the evaluation centres have been put under CCTV camera surveillance.
The online and offline evaluation began simultaneously at 58 offline and 36 online centres.
About seven lakh answer-sheets of about 1.30 lakh students of Commerce and Science streams and the common papers of the Arts stream like MIL, Mathematics, Statistics, Geography and Information Technology (IT) will be evaluated online while about 15 lakh answer sheets of the Arts stream will be evaluated offline (manual).
About 9,000 lecturers have been engaged for evaluation. The timing for the evaluation is from 10am to 6pm. However, taking note of the alarming rise in temperatures in some parts of the state, the zone in-charge has been asked to fix the timing.
To ensure transparency in the evaluation, the Council has directed the zone in-charge and centre superintendents to ensure that no lecturer is allowed to carry cell phones and other electronic gadgets to the evaluation centre.
The Council plans to complete the evaluation by end of April and announce the results of the Science stream in the third week of May and that of Arts, Commerce and Vocational Education in the first week of June.
Keeping Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in mind, the Council has decided to hold up evaluation for four days in centres where polling is scheduled.
Around 3,69,537 students of 1,556 junior colleges wrote the annual Plus II exams in 1,093 centres this year. The exams began March 7 and concluded March 30.
