The revelation of pop artist Beyonce’s father Mathew Knowles’ breast cancer has sent shivers down the spine among the common people. Many people are of the understanding that only women are affected by breast cancer and not men.
But this isn’t true. Mathew Knowles’ diagnosis of breast cancer proved it beyond doubt. Sixty-seven-year-old Mathew though said he was doing fine after the surgery in July. According to experts, men above 60 years are more likely to be affected with breast cancer. But there’s no guarantee that men below 60 will never get affected by the deadly disease.
Here we will discuss the reasons for which even men can get breast cancer and their probable remedies.
Causes:
Exact cause is unknown but risk of getting it increases because of the following:
Family history and genes, which include inheriting faulty versions of BRCA1 or BRCA2 genes
Things that increase body’s oestrogen level, including obesity, Klinefelter syndrome and liver scar (cirrhosis)
If a radiotherapy in the chest area has taken place earlier
Remedies
However, there’s no such prevention methods of the deadly disease, but few measures can surely help:
Balanced diet
One should try to reduce weight in case of obesity
Too much alcohol should be avoided
