Often when people fall ill, instead of going to the doctor, they go straight to the chemist and buy medicines for that disease without giving a second thought.
Sometimes, the medicine helps curing the disease but sometimes it also has serious consequences.
If you have noticed, perhaps you know that medicine packets have a red stripe on them. But do you know what that means?
People often buy medicine from stores without the advice of doctors and later regret their decision. Therefore, it is very important to be careful while buying medicine.
The red color on the medicine packet means that the medicine can neither be sold nor used without doctor’s advice and prescription. To prevent wrongful use of antibiotic medicines, manufacturers put a red stripe on the packets.
Apart from the red stripe, many other useful things are written on packets that are equally important. Some medicines have Rx written on them, which means that the medicine should be taken only after consulting a doctor.
On some packets of medicine NRx is written which means that only those doctors who are licensed for the drugs can prescribe those medicines.
XRx is also written on some of the medicines and this means that the medicine can only be taken from the doctor. The doctor can give this medicine directly to the patient. The patient cannot buy it from any medicine store, even if he has a prescription written by the doctor.
