Balasore: An eviction drive started near the Nua Bazaar railway crossing in Jaleswar town on NH-57 in Balasore district for the construction of an overbridge Tuesday.
The drive is to remove illegal encroachments in the area.
A team comprising Tahsildar Abhimanyu Panda, SDPO Ramchandra Gauda, IIC Pradeep Kumar Majhi, PWD Assistant Engineer-in-charge Manas Ranjan Sethi and Balasore Municipality officials monitored the eviction drive.
While two excavators were engaged in the demolition work of illegal structures on government land, four platoons of police were deployed in the area.
Meanwhile, a local BJP leader Arun Kumar Baig along with his supporters staged a road blockade in front of Sub-registrar’s office. They wanted to speed up the construction of overbridge.
