Berhampur: A dismissed Army jawan has been arrested for allegedly duping three people in Ganjam district on the pretext of providing them with jobs in Defence Services, police said here Friday. The accused has been identified as Santosh Kumar Sethi (33). He was dismissed from service last year for long absence and indiscipline, police informed. Three cases of cheating were registered against Sethi in January based on the complaints of the duped persons.
However, the accused had managed to evade police for a long time but was finally nabbed Wednesday, SP (Berhampur) Saravana Vivek M. Police said Sethi had taken Rs 50,000 from each of the three persons in January promising them jobs in the Defence Services. Police have recovered images of online transactions from the complainants and some other persons. They have also seized the motorbike and two mobile phones of the accused, they added.
