Keonjhar: Former BJD MLA Subarna Nayak has accused the party of having ditched him, saying the BJD had promised to field either him or his wife as a party nominee in Keonjhar Assembly seat, but denied ticket on the grounds that he had complicity in chit fund.
Nayak also claimed that some Congress workers have joined the BJD. The Congress is trying to hijack the party here as it had done in 2012, he noted. He said he would contest this time as an independent candidate.
“The BJD and the Congress are going to form the next government. Badrinaryan Patra and Sanatan Mahakud have joined hands. The two have been trying to loot minerals. This is very clear from the fact that the two leaders are supporting one candidate,” he said.
The former MLA further said that the government was taking action against Sanatan, but the BJD and Sanatan have accepted each other forgetting all mores. Denying his involvement in chit fund, Nayak said even his name is not in the charge sheet.
He pointed out the names of Balasore MP nominee Rabindra Jena, Brahmagiri MLA nominee Sanjay Dasburma and Mahakalapada nominee Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak, who are complicit in chit fund scams. They were given tickets while BJD leader Prabhat Biswal’s son was given ticket.
Recalling the ‘Mid-night operation’ by former BJD leader Pyarimohan Mohapatra, Nayak said he was then siding with Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. He felt let down by the party as he is a tribal leader, even though he has worked a lot for people. He has decided to contest as an independent.
