Kendrapara: Former Lok Sabha MP from Balasore and Utkal Bharat President Kharabela Swain was attacked by alleged BJD workers during a rally at Aul in Kendrapara district.
Kharabela was confronted by a group of people during his ‘Odisha Bhagya Parivartan Yatra’ in Aul. Swain alleged he was forced to leave the rally when he started talking against BJD and CM Naveen Patnaik. Debendra Rout of his party was presiding over the meeting.
His supporters were assaulted, microphones snatched and broken, vehicles damaged and he was dragged from the stage when he refused to leave. Swain protesting the high handedness staged a dharna at the meeting venue for some time.
The miscreants even damaged the vehicle of Dillip Kumar Mallik, president of the Dalit youth cell in Kendrapara who was accompanying Swain to the meeting. They attacked Rout and two of his associates, he alleged.
The BJD workers questioned him as to why he spoke in favour of Baijayant Panda and Abhijit Iyer-Mitra on a private TV channel Tuesday night, Swain alleged.
