Bhubaneswar: Vigilance sleuths Tuesday arrested Joint Excise Commissioner (Bhubaneswar) Rama Chandra Mishra after finding him in possession of assets 172 per cent more than his known sources of income. Acting on complaints that the officer possessed property exceeding his known sources of income, a team of Vigilance officers, including 10 DSPs, 15 inspectors, and other staff, carried out searches at 10 locations associated with Mishra, Monday.

During searches, the sleuths found six multi-storey buildings, 52 plots, approximately 230 gram of gold, and other items in Mishra’s and his family’s possession, an official said. “After thorough search, inventory and further enquiry, the income, expenditure and assets of Rama Chandra Mishra, Joint Commissioner of Excise, Bhubaneswar were calculated and he was found in possession of disproportionate assets (DA) which were 172 per cent over his known sources of income,” Vigilance sources said.
