BHUBANESWAR: Odisha held its third K-pop contest in association with Korean Culture Center India (KCCI) and Korean Tourism Organization (KTO) with LG Electronics India as the official sponsors for the nation-wide event held at KIIT Convention Center here recently.
The event is organised and executed by Team Odisha on behalf of the official authorities. The LG K-pop Contest India is the most sought out event for all fans across India. It presents them with a platform to showcase their talent and also provides them with a chance to meet people with similar interests in Hallyu.
Many fans have voiced that K-pop has helped them sail through difficult times as the entire community has rallied around to support them. In the age of internet and owing to global appeal of pop groups like EXO, BTS and BlackPink among others, the 2019 edition of the K-pop contest saw a massive increase in number of participants from previous years.
The contest consisting of vocal and dance category requires rigorous practice as participants are evaluated on the basis of their ability to sing seamlessly in Korean and dance flawlessly in sync with the original choreography. The contest, held post online selection as first round, was judged by Ms Choi Suna.
The success of the event was marked by the engaging Random Play Dance and words of support from the participants and parents alike who promised to return again next year for another edition of the widely anticipated event.
