Explosives cache seized from Sambalpur forest

Sambalpur: A huge cache of explosives was recovered by the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel from Badabhaluchuan forest of Tikilipada panchayat under Jamankira block in Sambalpur district Wednesday.

Commandant Pramod Kumar Sahoo of the CRPF Battalion Camp situated at Jamankira, said  security personnel went to Badabhaluchuan jungle on a search October 9. During the search, they found a big plastic box inside a rock cave. After opening it, they found 49 gelignite sticks, commercial electric detonators, 12 volt batteries, 12 torch lights, five pencil batteries, 10 Saridon tablets, 25 paracetamol tablets, six cotton bandages, five metres of copper wire, Nokia mobile phone charger, plastic container and three-metre-long black polythene sheet.

The recovered articles and explosives were seized from the forest under the supervision of CRPF Inspector Hira Ram.

It is suspected that Maoists might have hidden the materials.
