Bolangir: Passengers travelling in Visakhapatnam–Bhagat Ki Kothi Express Thursday had harrowing experience after the Express train caught fire near Harishankar railway station in Bolangir district, reports said.
Fortunately, no loss of life has been reported as the passengers managed to alight from the train safely.
As per sources, smoke was spotted billowing out of the engine of the train following which the train was halted at the very spot.
On being informed, the Government Railway Police (GRP) personnel reached the location and brought the spark under control. Though the actual cause behind the fire is yet to be ascertained, officials informed that fire broke out due to a short circuit.
The train service resumed after 28 minutes after the GRP officials released the dense smoke, officials informed.
