Extra-marital affair: Woman, son among 4 held for youth’s murder

Dharakote: Police arrested a woman and her son and detained two others on charge of murdering a youth over extra-marital affair at Manikyapur village under Badagad police limits in Ganjam district, Thursday.

The deceased was identified as Muna Naik, son of Trinath Naik of neighbouring Gambhariguda village and a vehicle helper by profession.  The matter came to the fore after residents noticed a body floating in a pond near the local hospital and informed police.

Police said a woman with whom he was allegedly involved in an extra-marital affair in Manikyapur village killed him with the help of her elder son Tuesday night.  Earlier, the woman’s husband had committed suicide after he caught his wife in a compromising position with the deceased.

The woman apprehending public shame asked the deceased to stay away from her as her elder son, who was in Kerala had returned home after his father’s death. However, Muna refused to listen and forced himself into her house Tuesday night.

The woman raised an alarm following which her elder son rushed to her help. The two caught hold of Muna and strangled him with an iron chain and assaulted him with an iron pipe.  Later, the woman and her son carried the body and dumped it in a pond near the hospital.
