Chhatrapur: A total of 13 hospitals in Ganjam district will undergo facelift in the first phase as part of 5T initiative, officials said here Monday. Plans have been finalised in this regard and one hospital each in 13 Assembly segments of the district will undergo facelift. The total cost is expected to be close to Rs 78 crore. The hospitals that will undergo changes are Berhampur City Hospital and those at Chhatrapur, Bhanjanagar, Aska, Hinjili, Kodala, Polsara, Khallikote, Keluapalli, Adapada, Chikiti, Sorada. The Digapahandi community health centre (CHC) will also be modernised.
An action plan prepared in this regard has been sent by District Collector Dibyajyoti Parida to the Commissioner-cum-Principal Secretary of the state Health department seeking his approval. The help of architects has been sought for the transformation of these hospitals and they will submit their report by February 7.
According to available information, Rs 11.24 crore will be spent on the Berhampur City Hospital, Rs 6.12 crore on the Bhanjanagar sub-divisional hospital, Rs 8.27 crore for Chhatrapur hospital, Rs 5.53 crore for Hinjili hospital, Rs 7.62 crore for Aska hospital, Rs 4.07 crore for Polsara CHC, Rs 4.09 crore for Kodala hospital, Rs 4.23 crore for Khallikote hospital, Rs 4.77 crore for Keluapalli hospital, Rs 6.26 crore for Adapada health centre, Rs 5.45 crore for Chikiti hospital, Rs 4.71 crore for Sorada hospital and Rs 5.06 crore for Digapahandi CHC.
These hospitals are undergoing transformation under the 5T initiative to provide quality healthcare to patients so that they will return back home with a sense of satisfaction. The infrastructure of these hospitals will be upgraded and the posts of doctors, nurses, pharmacists and other staff will also be increased. Apart, the toilets, drinking water facilities, sanitation and waste management services will also be upgraded for the benefit of patients.
