Fake BEd certificates: Three teachers absconding as DEO lodges FIR in Odisha’s Bolangir

Bolangir: As many as three teachers are absconding after their submitted BEd certificates were found to be fake in Odisha’s Bolangir district, a source said Friday.

District Education Officer (DEO) lodged an FIR against four teachers August 8 after it was found during verification that they had submitted fake BEd certificates to get jobs. The DEO had also issued show-cause notices to them.

Police have arrested one teacher identified as Minamayee Panda for allegedly submitting fake certificates. She had been teaching Hindi at Randa High School in the district for the past ten years. The other three accused teachers are absconding, according to the source.

Notably, the education department has sent as many as 400 certificates of teachers for verification.

In another similar yet unrelated incident, a lady teacher from Karanjiadia Government High School under Basudevpur Block in Bhadrak district was put under suspension for allegedly producing a fake BEd certificate to get a job 18 years ago.
