Paralakhemundi: Acting on a tip-off, police Monday busted a major fake currency notes racket and seized huge cache of counterfeit notes with a face value of Rs 2.5 lakh from Siddharth Nagar here, Monday.
The police arrested two persons for printing and circulating the fake currency notes and seized chemicals, paper and other articles from the spot.
The accused have been identified as Karunakar Parida, 39, of Mahadeipur village in Gajapati district and Santosh Majhi, 40, of Basundara village in Srikakulam district of Andhra Pradesh. The police also seized fake money making material, cutting paper and a bucket from their possession.
According to sources, the police raided a house in Siddharth Nagar following a tip-off about printing and circulation of fake notes of various denominations and nabbed the youths.
An accomplice of the accused fled the scene and search operations are underway to nab him, the police said.
