Biramaharajpur: Police here have arrested three persons involved in a fake currency racket in Subarnapur district. SDPO Dheeraj Chopdar Friday informed that face currency notes of Rs 500 denomination were recovered from the accused.
The accused were identified as Rajesh Sahoo, Ranjit Nayak, both are of Boudh district and Sarbeswar of Sonepur.
Police recovered 81 fake currency notes of Rs500 denomination from them, besides a Scorpio van and a mobile phone.
The trio was Friday produced in the court.
According to police the accused had bought four goats from Jayamani Lakra of Surudhapali village of Durjantaila panchayat in Biramaharajpur police station limits April 16. They gave Lakra 81 fake notes of Rs 500 denomination towards the price of goats. Later Lakra found the notes as fake.
Lakra lodged a complaint with Biramaharajpur police against the accused. The three were arrested Thursday. Police are investigating the matter further.
