Fake IRS officer arrested in Baripada

Baripada: A fake Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer who was demanding money from people in Mayurbhanj district on various pretexts was arrested Wednesday.

The accused has been identified as Rajat Kumar Panda of Boulapal village under Tihidi block of Bhadrak district.

According to reports, Rajat, impersonating as an IRS officer had demanded Rs 30, 000 from Payal Ray to get her a job in an NGO.

Payal doubted his behaviour as an IRS officer and lodged a complaint with the town police. Acting on the complaint, the police arrested Rajat.

Two mobile phones, cash worth Rs 10, 000 and many forged documents were seized from his possession.

Rajat was earlier arrested for duping money from people by posing as an Indian Administrative Service officer.
