Rupsa: A farmer allegedly died of sunstroke at Ambakuduchi village under Singla police limits in Balasore district, Wednesday. The deceased was identified as Balaram Behera, 35, of the village. He is alleged to have died due to a blistering heatwave and excessive humidity prevailing in the area. He suddenly fell sick while working on the farmland and collapsed after losing his sense.

On being informed, family members rushed him to the Basta community health centre where doctors pronounced him dead. Singla police registered a case and sent the body for post-mortem. Balaram had married four years back and is survived by his widow and a four-year-old daughter. Locals have demanded financial assistance from the bereaved family as he was the lone breadwinner of the family.
