Farmer shows ‘Good Samaritan’ gesture by returning cash, ATM cards

Singhijuba: Appreciation poured in from different quarters after Kailash Bhue, a farmer at Bankighirdi Adivasipada under Binika block in Subarnapur district, returned a purse containing cash and two ATM cards to its owner.

Kailash, who ekes out a living from rearing cows and paddy farming, had gone to Bargarh for some personal work Saturday. He saw a purse lying on the road when he was returning home via Barpali in the night.

When he opened the purse, he found Rs 17, 031 in cash, two ATM cards and a voter identity card. From the identity card, he realised that the owner of the purse was Lalit Bhue from Gudimunda village in Aagalpur gram panchayat of Bolangir district.

After enquiring about Lalit at the nearby Kusanpuri square, he returned home. The next day, he managed to get the contact number of Lalit and informed the latter about the lost purse.

Lalit came to Bankighardi and collected the purse Sunday morning. Finding that his money and cards intact, Lalit embraced Kailash and offered half of the money to him.

Kailash gently refused the offer but promised that he would visit Lalit’s village to watch an opera.
