Farmers’ body not to allow entry of leaders in villages

Telkoi: Farmers under the banner of Naba Nirman Krushak Sangathan organised protest meetings at Telkoi, Sirigida, Akula, Deuladiha and Kalaiahata panchayat in Keonjhar district.

They have resolved not to allow entry of political leaders to villages, because thousands of farmers had been denied participation a rally on NH and entry to the state capital earlier.

The agitating farmers shouted slogans, seeking ‘price, prestige and pension’. They held roadside meetings on several issues related to the farm sector.

Farmer leaders including Laxmidhar Pradhan, Indramani Biswal, Shailendra Pradhan, Chaitanya Charan Sahu, Bhramarabar Pradhan, Malay Sahu, Ramakant Bhai, Sushil Bhai, Panchanan Sahu and Akshya Pradhan said sarpanchs should be part of the agitation in the larger interests of the farming community.

When PEETHA programme was going in these panchayats, farmer leaders said that people felt the need for pension.

They said that there was resentment among the people against the government over the demands of farmers.

They have sent memoranda addressed to the Governor through sarpanchs in those area.
