Bhubaneswar: Self Help Groups (SHGs) can avail Mudra loans up to Rs 50,000 in just 30 seconds, while bank customers can get loans amounting to Rs 1 crore within 59 minutes. This was announced by Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Friday during the launch of mega customer outreach initiative SBI Grahak Mela Camp in city.
On the criterion, he said: “The beneficiaries should have three months active bank accounts with having Aadhaar number and contact number linked. The loans will be approved in 30 seconds.”
He also urged PSBs to increase loans amount to Self Help Groups. “The banks disbursed loans of Rs 2 lakh crore to different sectors, in which SHGs get Rs 36,000 crore. Since there are no reported NPA issues in SHGs accounts, I request the banks to increase the loan amount to Rs 70,000 crore,” Pradhan said.
24 Public Sector Banks (22 banks, 2 NBFC) participated at the programme. Union Minister delivered 2,604 loans with an estimated cost of Rs 166.11 crore for personal, housing, vehicle and educational loans.
The programme will continue till October end. Pradhan urged PSBs to open around 5,000 branches across the state to facilitate banking services to all.
