Bhadrak: A person was arrested and court forwarded Friday for allegedly killing his daughter-in-law at Nuasahi village near Tihidi in Bhadrak district.
The arrested has been identified as Jagabandhu Mallick.
According to sources, Arati Mallick, daughter of Sridhar Mallick, married Baburam Mallick five years ago. Arati’s in-laws demanded dowry from her family members and harassed her.
Unable to bear the torture, she attempted suicide September 10 by consuming poison. Even though she was admitted to Bhadrak Hospital, she died Thursday.
Arati’s father lodged a complaint with Tihidi police alleging that she was murdered over dowry.
