Kendrapara: A Class VI girl died allegedly due to faulty treatment by a doctor who was on duty Wednesday night at the district headquarters hospital here.
Sources said Parbati Sahu, 12, daughter of Sudarshan Sahu, of Sujanagar in Gulnagar GP, became ill Wednesday night and started vomiting.
She was rushed to the hospital. The doctor ordered a blood test to ascertain the quantum of poison in her blood. But during the blood test poison was not found.
After that, the doctor allegedly administered an injection meant for vomiting, and asked the girl’s parents to take her home and advised them to bring her to the hospital if there was pain in her lower abdomen.
The family took Parbati home. But her condition became serious and she started vomiting within 10 minutes. She was again rushed to the hospital by her family and the doctor declared her dead.
Parbati’s family alleged that their daughter died due to lack of proper treatment. “The doctor should have admitted my daughter for observation, but he did not do so and told me to take her home after giving an injection. The doctor who gave the wrong treatment should be punished,” said Sudarshan.
IIC Kabuli Barik of Kendrapara Sadar police station said the police have registered a case and sent the body for post-mortem.
