Panaji: FC Goa came back from a two-goal deficit to hold Bengaluru FC (BFC) to a 2-2 draw in the third game of the ISL here Sunday. In a fast-paced game Bangalore scored through Cleinton Silva (27th) and Juanan (57th) and were on course for all the three points the game had to offer. However, FC Goa hit back in a space of three minutes through Igor Angulo (66th and 69th) which helped the Gaurs salvage a point.
No doubt, BFC looked the superior side all through the game. They had better ball possession and opened the field better, stretching the Goan defence on a number of occasions. However, they failed to convert their territorial supremacy into goals and the Blues had to be satisfied with a point only.
It was BFC who looked dominating from the start. FC Goa players construed a number of passes among themselves. However, they invariably gave the ball away to Bengaluru in the middle third of the pitch.
Bengaluru FC took the lead when Harmanjot Singh Khabra threw the ball strongly into the opposition box. Goa’s James Kevin Donachie tried to head the ball away, but only managed to nudge in front of his own goal. An opportunistic Silva was quick to pounce on the mistake and head in for the goal.
It became 2-0 early in the second half when Juanan scored off a lovely combined move and. He was quick to spot a gap in the FC Goa defence and he fired home a powerful volley.
But then what followed, no one expected. A combined move down the left between Sanson Pereira and Brandon Fernandes opened up the BFC defence. The latter was quick to find an unmarked Angulo who slotted the ball in the net. Three minutes later, he was again at the right spot to connect with his waist a cross from the right by Jesuraj leaving Gurpreet Singh Sandhu under the BFC bar watching the ball nestle into the corner of the net.
