Balasore: Balasore town police station inspector-in-charge Sarojini Nayak has gone mysteriously untraced since July 1.
Her disappearance has now been a talk of the town here.
The cop was last seen at the police station from 1pm to 7pm Friday. She had disappeared after 7pm and none of the cops or staff knew anything about her whereabouts. Assuming her disappearance as normal, they did not attach much importance to it.
It was at 8pm when a vigilance team reached the police station searching for the IIC, the police station staff grew suspicious.
The Balasore vigilance SP informed that her mobile phone was switched off most of the time. At times, though the calls were possible but there was none from the other end to answer them.
The IIC’s disappearance has now been the fevered gossip across the town.
Notably, vigilance sleuths caught Balasore town police station sub-inspector Bimal Kar red handed while accepting bribe of Rs 25,000 from a middleman to settle a land dispute July 1. Both were arrested and have been lodged in jail.
A theory is going around that the holed up cop may have a role in the above-mentioned case.
