FIFA bans Chelsea for next two transfer windows

Chelsea have also been fined 600,000 Swiss francs, while the Football Association has been fined 510,000 Swiss francs.

London: Season troubles continue for Chelsea as the Blues are banned from signing new players for the next two transfer windows.

The ban has been imposed in the wake of an investigation from FIFA which found out that Chelsea were guilty of breaching rules in relation to the international transfer and registration of players under the age of 18. Although barred from injecting new blood into the men’s team, the ban does not affect the women’s and futsal teams.

Chelsea have also been fined 600,000 Swiss francs, while the Football Association has been fined 510,000 Swiss francs.

The Roman Abramovich owned side can appeal against the world governing body’s decision.

The FIFA investigation probed into Chelsea’s recruitment of Under-18 players, including that of former striker Bertrand Traore. According to French website ‘Mediapart’, 19 Chelsea signings had been under the microscope in a three-year long investigation. The French website claims that 14 of the signings were below the age of 18.
