Bhubaneswar, August 4: The state will provide an incentive of `10,000 to those who build houses under Biju Pucca Ghar Yojana and Indira Awas Yojana within four months of the issuance of the first installment.
“Beneficiaries who complete the roofing of their house allotted under Biju Pucca Ghar Yojana or Indira Awas Yojana within four months of the release of first installment will be eligible to get an incentive of Rs 10,000,” said panchayati raj (PR) minister Arun Sahoo during a review of construction of pucca houses under BPGY and IAY.
Incentives for completing houses under the stipulated time would be provided under the Rural Housing Scheme, the minister said.
Those who finish the roofing of the house within six months of the release of the first installment shall be eligible for an incentive of Rs 5,000. This was communicated to all district collectors by the department, Sahoo indicated.
A house shall be considered to be built only when the dwelling unit is complete in all respects including the toilet, and is habitable, officials said.
The government accords priority to rural housing and the new guidelines will accelerate the process, said Sahoo.
The state government is targeting to build seven lakh houses in the 2015-16 fiscal. The Chief Minister July 29 this year had asked collectors of all 30 districts to increase the number of houses being built on a daily basis. It was revealed in the meeting that construction of two lakh Pucca houses has been completed so far this year.
Fund provision has also been made for awarding officers and functionaries for extraordinary work in implementation of the Rural Housing Scheme, department sources said.
Collectors of all districts have been advised to incur the expenditure with prior approval of the government.
