Fire breaks out at Punjab & Sind Bank

Paradip: Properties worth lakhs of rupees were reduced to ashes after a massive blaze broke out at the Paradip Garh branch of Punjab & Sind Bank in Jagatsinghpur district Saturday.

As per reports, four personal computers, four air coolers and 32 inverter batteries were damaged in the fire. The employees of the branch had a close shave from the mishap as the bank was closed following a holiday.

Locals spotted smoke billowed out of the bank and alerted fire tender team. After getting information, four fire tenders, one from Paradip Port, two from Kujang and one from Paradip refinery, were able to douse the flames.

While no exact cause of the fire breakout was ascertained, it is suspected to be caused due to an electrical short circuit.
