Five booked in Routaragadia Patna lynching case

Bhadrak: Bhadrak Rural police have booked five persons for their complicity in lynching a villager, Bijay Behera, at Routaragadia Patna in this district Thursday night.

On the basis of the complaint lodged by the deceased’s brother, the police have registered a case and launched an investigation. A manhunt is on to nab all the five accused, who are at large.

According to the complaint lodged by Bijay’s younger brother Yudhisthira, the deceased had kept sand on the village road for the construction of his house. Guru Maharana and his associates had been opposing this. Thursday night, Guru and his family members had an altercation with Bijay over the issue. In no time, the verbal duel escalated into fisticuffs. Guru and his associates started attacking him with iron rods. Bijay was rushed to the district headquarters hospital (DHH) where the doctors on duty declared him brought dead.

Since the incident, the village has been devoid of males.

When contacted, inspector-in-charge Prabhanshu Mishra said that efforts are on to nab the accused.
