Jhumpura: Bears have unleashed a reign of terror in Champua forest range of Keonjhar district while five people were critically injured in their attacks in several villages in the last 24 hours.
Residents of Rajabasa, Siriabahal, Sanahundula and Tolbahal are panicked over the menace. The persons injured in bear attacks were Saraju Nayak, Tankadhar Munda, Mangalu Munda, Dhaneswar Munda and Chhotray Munda.
These people were in nearby forests to collect firewood, dry leaves, wild fruits and roots when bears attacked them. The injured were admitted to the district headquarters hospital.
Champua ranger Ghanashyam Barik said the forest department will bear medical expenses of the injured people.
