Five hurt in group clash in Balasore village

Balasore: At least five persons sustained injuries following a group clash that erupted at Kopura village under Simulia police limits in Balasore district Saturday.

According to sources, a dispute prevailed between two groups of the village over a controversial patch of land in the locality. One group of locals had gone to the nearby farmland to put up fences but they faced strong opposition from another group of the same village.

Following this, a verbal duel erupted between the two groups. The argument turned violent after both the groups started attacking each other with swords and knives, injuring five persons from both the groups.

The injured were rushed to Simulia Community Health Centre (CHC) for first-aid. It is learnt that the critical among them will be shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital.

Among the seriously injured were Nizam Khan, Shahrukh Khan, Sarjina Khatun, Maujuddin Khan and Saimuddin Khan of the village.

Meanwhile, local police have reached the CHC and initiated a probe into the incident. Palpable tension gripped the village following the clash.
