Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police Monday busted a sex racket operating at Satya Vihar here in the guise of a consultancy firm under Mancheswar police station, an official said.

The owner of the consultancy firm was identified as Laxmi Narayan Pattanayak. Police arrested Pattanayak and rescued four women engaged in the flesh trade. Mancheswar police got information about the illegal activity Sunday and raided the three-storey building in Satya Vihar area Monday morning.

“A woman lodged an FIR Sunday alleging that a young girl, who was brought to the consultancy agency to provide a job, has been forced into flesh trade. Acting on her report, we raided the centre and rescued four girls from the spot,” ACP Sanjeev Tripathy said.

However, another accused managed to give the cops a slip by jumping over a boundary wall. Efforts are on to nab him. A detailed probe is underway, said the ACP, adding that the sex racket was operating for several months.
