Satapada: As many as 100 passengers along with two buses and 10 bikes were stranded after a floating bridge vessel was stuck in Chilika lake near Satapada in Puri, a source said Sunday.
As per the source, just over a kilometre from shore, the vessel that was travelling from Satapada to Janhikuda became stuck due to a technical glitch.
After the information spread out, Chilika Development Authority (CDA) officials reached the spot and undertook repair work.
Efforts are underway to evacuate the stranded passengers from the vessel, informed the source.
This is not the first time that such an incident has happened in Chilika.
January 14 this year, a passenger boat carrying nearly 20 devotees to Maa Kalijai shrine got stuck in the middle of Chilika lake because of thick fog. This incident led to suspension of boating services in Chilika lake by the local administration until fog situation subsided.
