Kalimela: With heavy rains lashing southern Odisha in the last couple of days, the district of Malkangiri has been worst hit by floods. Almost all areas of Malkangiri have been cut off as flood waters have submerged roads and bridges wreaking havoc.
Road traffic has been disrupted after a portion of Kanyashram Bridge was submerged in water. Due to heavy rains since Wednesday night, virtually the entire Kalimela village has been cut off with flood waters flowing over the roads and bridges.
According to the local villagers, all routes to Kalimela are under water, disrupting communication between the village and Malkangiri. As a result of the heavy showers Wednesday, portions of the Kangurukonda Bridge are under water. Hence Kalimela, Motu, and Padia villages have been cut off from Malkangiri town.
Normal life has been completely thrown out of gear. The block administrator, and local police has directed all to stay alert. People have also been asked to move to state-run relief camps.
