Sukinda: Sorrow engulfed Ambalaba village under Sukinda block in Jajpur district after a man’s body was fished out from a pond by fire brigade personnel here Monday. The deceased has been identified as Purnachandra Senapati of Bhuban village belonging to Dhenkanal district.
Sources said that Purnachandra earns livelihood by selling flowers in the local market. On the occasion of Ganesh puja, he went to the nearby pond to get lotus flowers. However, in the process, he got trapped underneath the lotus flowers. He failed to come out of it and drowned.
Inspector in-charge (IIC) of Sukinda Bichitrananda Sethi, sub-Inspector (SI) Antarjyami Srichandan along with fire brigade personnel reached the spot and fished out the body. The police registered a case (No. 19/19) of unnatural death, and handed over Purnachandra’s body to his family members after post-mortem.
