Bhubaneswar: The State government Friday ordered strict adherence to COVID-19 protocols during the elections to affiliated Bar Associations scheduled for Saturday.
Against the backdrop of the state registering more than 200 daily COVID-19 positive cases and the possibility of congregation during elections being high, Additional Chief Secretary, Health and Family Welfare Department, Pradipta Kumar Mohapatra, has asked the Collectors, SPs and Municipal commissioners in letters to ensure COVID-19 guidelines are followed during the elections.
The Collectors, SPs and Municipal commissioners have been asked to make sure that mask wearing and social distancing norms are followed during the elections.
While Mohapatra has directed the candidates to avoid gathering during campaigning, he suggested them to take part in the elections with strict adherence to COVID-19 guidelines.
Notably, Odisha Friday reported 234 positive COVID-19 cases, taking the total caseload to 3,39,694. While 3,36,409 patients have so far recovered from the disease, 1,313 are still undergoing treatment.
