Foolproof security for PM’s visit

Bhubaneswar: Security has been beefed up here on the eve of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s one-day visit to the state Saturday. Police had checked the hotels and lodges in the city late Thursday night. However, the Intelligence Bureau has not issued any specific alert indicating threat to Modi during his visit.
Talking about security arrangements in the millennium city, Director General of Police, RP Sharma, told the media that police personnel in mufti, armed police and senior police officers will be stationed at important locations around the twin cities.
“Elaborate police arrangements have been made both in Cuttack and Bhubaneswar. Adequate safeguards are being taken to provide safety to crucial areas like helipad, route between helipad and the meeting venue in Cuttack. The security is foolproof and measures to control crowd and traffic will be strictly adhered to,” he added.
The Deputy Commissioner of Bhubaneswar UPD informed Orissa POST that around 25 platoons of police force were placed at different places in the capital including at the airport. Modi is scheduled to arrive at BPIA at 3.25 pm Saturday. He will leave for Cuttack by an Indian Air Force helicopter. Mock drills were conducted in Bhubaneswar Friday ahead of his visit.
