Former ADG of Prasar Bharati Abhay Kumar Padhi succumbs to COVID-19

Bhubaneswar: Former Additional Director General (ADG) of Prasar Bharati Abhay Kumar Padhi passed away Monday due to COVID-19.

He had tested positive for the virus a few days ago.

A native of Sambalpur, he had been undergoing treatment at a COVID-19 hospital there.

He had joined Prasar Bharati in the year 1976. He had also served as the Senior Executive Officer of All India Radio (AIR) and Doordarshan.

Padhi had completed his graduation from Gangadhar Meher University (GM University) in the year 1970. He was a student of Ancient Indian History and European History. He had also completed his Post Graduation from the same university. He had done specialization in linguistics and phonetics.

Padhi was also a former visiting faculty member at IIMC, Dhenkanal.

Notably, Prasar Bharati is India’s largest public broadcasting agency. It is a statutory autonomous body set up by an Act of Parliament and comprises the Doordarshan Television Network and All India Radio, which were earlier media units of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
