Nabarangpur: Bringing an end to all political speculations following his resignation from Congress, the former MP from Nabarangpur constituency segment announced at a presser held here Sunday morning that he will soon join the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD).
“BJD led by the party supremo and Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has been successful in giving a stable government to people of the state. I, along with my close political associates and some other senior leaders of Congress will join BJD soon,” Majhi said.
The former MP further said that carrying out development works in the undivided Koraput district was practically very difficult, so long as he remained with Congress. He tried hard to resolve local issues.
Giving his views on future of Congress in Odisha, Majhi said that it is too difficult for the party to grab power under present scenario.

“Leaders at the grassroot level in undivided Koraput district are keen to see development of the region. All of us will be joining BJD to strengthen the party. Our decision will help resolve basic issues like education, health and other basic amenities,” Majhi stated.
Besides, Majhi in his resignation letter wrote, “I have a great desire to serve my people at whatever position I am, which is now lacking in the Congress party. As such, I am painfully quieting the party for which I may kindly be excused.”
It is pertinent to mention here that Majhi had resigned from the primary membership of Congress October 22. He sent his resignation letter to the Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi.
