Former OPCC chief Jayadev Jena’s son critical due to Covid-19; admitted in Hyderabad

Bhubaneswar: Sangram Keshari Jena aka Bapi who is the son of former Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) chief Jayadev Jena was shifted to Hyderabad Sunday for further treatment after his condition deteriorated owing to Covid-19 related complications.

Sangram is a former president of the youth wing of the OPCC.

According to a source, the youth leader was referred to outside the state when extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) treatment could not be made available to him at a private Covid facility here.

Sangram was hospitalised nearly a month ago after being infected with the deadly virus. He was put on ventilator support for over three weeks. However, his health condition did not improve and he was shifted to Hyderabad through air ambulance, the source added.

Notably, another youth leader Sambit had succumbed to similar complications Saturday for not getting ECMO treatment at a private Covid facility in Cuttack. He was the son of former Biju Janata Dal legislator from Dhenkanal Assembly constituency Nabin Nanda.
