Bhubaneswar: Vigilance sleuths Friday carried out raids at multiple places in connection with allegations of corruption against a senior clerk of the Forest Department.
Dilip Kumar Jena, son of Rama Chandra Jena of Ratanpur village under Gondia police limits in Dhenkanal district, is a senior clerk at the office of the Chief Conservator of Forest (Kenduleaf), Cuttack.
Acting on a tip-off that Jena has amassed assets from various unfair sources, the vigilance department conducted raids at four places simultaneously. The places include his residential quarters (Qrs No-B-4), in the Forest Training College campus at Ghatikia under Khandagiri police limits in Bhubaneswar, a triple-storey building at Mallick Complex in Jagamara area under Khandagiri police limits, his paternal house at Ratanpur village under Gondia police limits in Dhenkanal district and the office chamber located in the office of Chief Conservator of Forest (Kenduleaf) in Cuttack.
The raids were carried out on the basis of a search warrant issued by the special judge, vigilance, Bhubaneswar.
The total value of the assets accumulated by Jena is yet to be ascertained as the raids are underway. The officials have seized some important documents, it was learnt.
