Four armed dacoits arrested in capital

Bhubaneswar, Sept 4: The quick action team (QAT) of the commissionerate police arrested four armed dacoits in the wee hours of Friday while they were planning to commit a dacoity.
One of the gang members, Niri of Haldipadia, managed to flee, said police. The arrested men were identified as Rashmi Ranjan Barik (39) of Cuttack, Rajendra Das (29) of Kendrapara, Lingaraj Dalei (20) of Ganjam and Raja Kumar Nayak (19) of Ganjam.  
“The QAT received a tip-off about four dacoits armed with fire arms, swords (bhujali), and other weapons being active and operating from Rasulgarh area. They were looking for a chance to commit dacoity in the city. QAT officials and Mancheswar police station officials nabbed them while they had assembled together in the wee hours of September 4 in the Chakeisiani area to commit a dacoity,” twin city Police Commissioner Rajendra Prasad Sharma told journalists.
“We recovered a country-made pistol with magazine, two rounds of live 9mm ammunitions, two daggers, one air pistol, three mobile phones and one motorcycle with a Delhi registration number from their possession,” Sharma added.
A case was registered against the four alleged dacoits and they were produced in a court Friday.
