Balasore: Four persons, including a child, were killed and three others critically injured after a car in which they were travelling hit a stationary truck on NH-60 at Kundapur in this district Saturday night.
The deceased persons have been identified as Tofani Rana, his wife Kalpana Rana of Paikasidha village of Jaleswar, Ranjan Parida and Rabi Rana.
The victims were returning from Puri after visiting the Jagannath Temple. At Kundapur, the car rammed into a truck that was parked at the side of the road and overturned killing two persons on the spot. Two others succumbed to their injuries while undergoing treatment at Basta hospital. The injured ones are undergoing treatment at the district hospital.
On being informed, police reached the spot and launched an investigation.
While the exact cause of the accident is yet to be ascertained, it is speculated that the driver of the vehicle may have dozed off.
