Jharsuguda: Four persons were arrested in a land fraud case and forwarded to the court of Jharsuguda SDJM on charges of selling a piece of land by producing forged documents.
Lakhanpur police station in Jharsuguda had registered a case (10/19) under Sections 410,420,423,468,471 & 120-B of the IPC and later turned to U/s 419,420,423,468,471,201, 120-B of the IPC & Section 35 of the Aadhaar Act, 2016.
While three accused—Hemanta Kishan (39), Ramakrushna Kishan (30), Manohar Saraf (65)—hail from Amlajharan village under Lakhanpur PS, another one, Lachhu Pingua (65), is a resident of Pumphouse Pada under Banaharpali PS, the police said.
Based on a complaint by Kumodini Pandey (35) of Amlajharan village a case was registered and a probe launched. During the investigation, Hemanta Kishan was apprehended Monday afternoon, following which he confessed to having done the fraud by forging documents.
According to a press note, Hemanta had contacted one Roshanlal Agrawal and Parameswar Satnami through one Chatrubhuja Pradhan of Sahasbaga to sell a piece of land in the same village, registered in the name of Makardwaj Naik.
However, the accused concealed the fact that the land belongs to a person of a minority community. Besides, he also forged the identity of a deceased person (Makardwaj Naik) and prepared a fake Aadhaar card on the latter’s name.
Later, when Roshanlal Agrawal agreed to purchase the land in the name of Parameswar Satnami, accused Hemanta brought Lachhu Pingua, who posed as the seller, along with two other witnesses and executed the land sale deed at the sub-registrar’s office.
The accused also confessed to having opened an account at ICICI Bank, Telenpali, in the name of deceased Makardwaj Naik for the transaction of money of the sold land, the press note further mentioned.
Following confession by the accused, the police arrested him and others involved in the land fraud case besides seizing the documents and forwarded them to the court.
