Baliguda: COVID-19 has claimed another warrior in the form of a constable of Daringbadi police station in Kandhamal district Thursday.
While discharging his duty, the deceased, Bali Kanhar (53), had taken ill and later tested positive for COVID-19 September 20. He was admitted to Bisamkatak Christian hospital. While undergoing treatment he breathed his last Thursday.
Kandhamal district police brought the warrior’s body to Baliguda police station where the deceased was accorded the honour of a COVID-19 warrior. Among others, Kandhamal SP Vinit Agrawal, Baliguda Sub-Collector Subhankar Mohapatra, Baliguda sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) Manas Ranjan Barik, Baliguda IIC Prashant Kumar Behera, Reserve inspector Dharmendra Pradhan, other police officers offered their last tribute to the departed soul.
Later, his final rites were held at a cremation ground, four kilometres away from Baliguda.
The deceased cop was a native of Gambharipada of Boudh district. He had joined the police department as a constable and worked at many police stations.
Notably, four COVID-19 warriors have so far succumbed to the killer virus in the district and all of them are policemen.
